Shakespeare may have
described music as the "food of love" but for these
electronic sound alchemists, a love of food is the stuff
of music. Devoted to the art of concocting Dada Cuisine,
the band’s experimental music is derived purely from the
sound of cooking. Besides charting the different course
of a meal without artificial instrumentation, every
dish, after performance, is consumed by all members of
the public.
On Saturday October 14th 2000, the
Band performed two live sets at Notting Hill’s
Tabernacle Arts Centre at Powis Square, Notting Hill,
London W11. The free gig was part of the annual London
Food Film Fiesta, sponsored by kitchen
appliance maestros, Morphy Richards
. The first
set consisted of a twenty minute high velocity piece, in
which the Band wired-up their usual array of hobs and
blenders whilst serving food to the audience. For the
second set, the Band miked-up the Tabernacle kitchen for
a long duration piece, coinciding with a cookery
demonstration by chef, Peter Gordon.
